Joe Rogan Reveals Tim Walz Made Him Jump Into Presidential Election

Podcast host Joe Rogan claims he was compelled to enter the 2024 presidential election conversation due to frustration with "liar" Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, the Democratic vice presidential nominee. Rogan had previously intended to avoid endorsing a candidate but said Walz's alleged falsehoods forced his hand.

During a recent episode of *The Joe Rogan Experience*, Rogan criticized Walz for misrepresenting his military service and making inaccurate claims about his connection to China's Tiananmen Square massacre. Rogan, who later endorsed President-elect Donald Trump, argued that allowing Walz to become vice president would have been "insane."

"I wanted to stay out of the presidential election stuff because it's so gross," Rogan said. "But I felt like I had to speak up. When Tim Walz—this guy—was in the running, it was nuts. You're telling me it doesn’t matter if someone is a liar? That you don’t care if he lied about his military rank or where he served? Or that he lied about being in China during Tiananmen Square? It’s ridiculous. He’d get fired from Jiffy Lube for that!"

Walz, who joined Vice President Kamala Harris as her running mate in August, faced scrutiny over past claims. He had stated during a campaign stop years earlier that he carried a weapon "in war" during his Army National Guard service, though records show he served in a security role in Europe, not in combat. He also claimed to have been in China during the Tiananmen Square massacre, though he actually arrived months later. The Harris-Walz campaign later clarified that he had "misspoken" on both issues.

Rogan’s endorsement of Trump over Walz sparked backlash on social media. Critics pointed out that Trump has a well-documented history of falsehoods, far exceeding Walz’s disputed statements.

The account *Republicans Against Trump* wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "Fact check: Donald Trump is the biggest liar in American history. The Washington Post reported he made 30,573 false or misleading claims during his presidency."

Singer-songwriter Bill Madden added, "Joe Rogan saying he 'had' to endorse Trump because of Tim Walz's lies is absurd. Trump is the most prolific liar in American history."

Progressive commentator Matthew Sheffield echoed the sentiment, writing, "Trump lies constantly about things big and small. Rogan's reasoning is just an excuse for his own ideological bias."

Former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan dismissed Rogan’s rationale with a post reading, "Imagine pretending you voted for Trump because you were bothered by *checks notes* dishonesty. Lol."

Rogan has yet to respond to the criticism.
